Got any spare gmail addresses, guv?

It seems a gmail address is fast becoming the de facto currency unit on the interweb. One address raised $137.50 in an eBay auction. Now you can swap addresses for all sorts of stuff - including dead cockroaches, pr0n and tons of other things. Sort of like a virtual multi-coloured swap shop but without the annoying bearded dwarf with gross sweaters.

I got my gmail invite via Blogger due to being an active blogger. Once I signed up for it and started using it they offered me another 2 to give to friends. I've given one away and was going to give the other to Merg as he missed the Blogger offer which disappeared after the redesign was launched. However, according to the swap site, it appears the offer is going to come back soon so he will get his own anyway. How desperate are you for this gmail address Merg? Can you wait so I can get myself a cockroach? :)

Gmail account invitation $26.00 and counting at eBay

GMail invites ... they are like Orkut invites

Google is pretty slick with how they are making their invites to the beta like Orkut invites. However, they are limiting the invites which will drive up the demand even more. Jeremy Zawodny's blog:
"You'd think I was giving out free money or something.
They're not pre-IPO shares, just gmail invites."
I put in my request to get an invite if Jeremy has any left. My guess is I'm too late. If anybody reading this has invites, then send one over. My contact info is listed here

Mike Wendland tests GMail ... and likes

Detroit Free Press - Google's new Gmail has a few quirks, but it works - "I've been e-mailing like a spammer the past few days, testing out the new, soon-to-be-public e-mail service from Google called Gmail. ..."

I like this article because Mike gives specific real world examples of how the controversial targeted advertising works. It sounds to me like it isn't all that controversial at all. He also lists the cool features:
Gmail's most outstanding feature is the cogent and convenient way it organizes mail by collapsible threads, displaying the messages in context and sequence, just like conversations. All the e-mail is searchable. Other nice touches include a spam filter, a spell checker and keyboard shortcuts you can program.

A thorough and reasonable look at GMail privacy

This is one of the best articles I've read to date on the GMail privacy situation. It is well-reasoned and thorough. Kudos to Mr. Templeton:
The GMail Saga: "I come to this problem from two sides. One, I'm a fan of Google, and have been friends with Google's management since they started the company. I've also consulted for Google on other matters and make surprising revenue from their Adsense program on my web site.
I'm also a privacy advocate and Chairman of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, well regarded as one of the top civil rights advocates in cyberspace. The EFF has issued some statements of privacy concern over GMail, though we declined joining the coalition against it."

Feedster search results for gmail: 11120 posts found [RSS]

I'm noticing a fair number of non-English results from Feedster for the gmail keyword. I see that there is a cool geographic option which displays where blogs are coming from but I wonder how to remove the non-English results (anybody know if this is possible?). I also wonder if there is a way to speed up the Feedster search results because sometimes the search is very slow to respond. I will get around to setting up comments on this blog sooner or later, but in the meantime, you can comment on any post at GMail Talk here

To return to the inbox, you can of course click on the "Inbox" link on the left had side, or if you're in conversation view, clicking on the "Back to Inbox" link above the conversation. There is also green 'Inbox' label text next to the subject. But you can also click on the Gmail logo, a much larger target, to go back to the inbox.

Keyboard shortcut users can type "g i" to Go to the Inbox.

Clicking on the logo, the Inbox link, the Refresh link, or the keyboard shortcut "u" all will refresh the inbox with the latest messages received.

Gmail lets you have a secure HTTPS session via https://gmail.google.com as well as its default SSL-enabled login page. Many other free webmails have non-SSL login as default and offer SSL login as an option and few offer HTTPS session. For more details see this page.

Selecting a sub-conversation out of a long, multi-person conversation.
Do you ever have a long, multi-person conversation, and you want to concentrate on a particular sub-conversation with one person? For example, let's say you emailed three of your buddies Ada, Bob, and Cat, with the subject "Job okay?" and asked them all "How's it going at your job?". They all replied back and now you've gotten into three separate sub-conversations all within the same Gmail conversation. There is an easy way to concentrate on your sub-conversation with, say, Ada. Simply do the following search (without the square brackets):
[ subject:"job okay" (from:ada OR to:ada) ]
(Note that the "OR" must be all caps to be recognized as a special operator.) Then when you click on the conversation, it will open up with only the matching messages expanded! =)

Here's more detail than you probably want to know: The "to:" operator finds stuff in the to/cc/bcc fields. If you also cc-ed or bcc-ed Ada in other messages that you don't want to match the search (e.g. your messages to Bob and Cat), then do the search:
[ subject:"job okay" (from:ada OR (to:ada -cc:ada -bcc:ada)) ]
The "-cc:ada" and "-bcc:ada" terms eliminate the possibility of matching on messages cc-ed or bcc-ed to Ada.

I love my gmail account, but I'd like to know why instead of me having 1000 MB (1GB) of storage, all of a sudden today the following little line showed up at the bottom of my inbox:

Isn't that a terabyte? Or am I just retarted?

I just read that the California Senate has passed an anti-Gmail bill. Like they say, only in California. Liz Figueroa, the State Senator who introduced this wacky bill must think that Californians lack the ability to think for themselves. If people are willing to let a computer search through their email, and target them with advertising (non-intrusive at that) for 1GB of email storage space, let them! Its not like Google wasn't upfront about the terms for getting Gmail. I think that this Liz Figueroa (?first time I've heard of her?) is on a power trip. If she think that taking on Google will be her big break, she'll feel otherwise once the backlash starts. Its no wonder people are fed up with politics and only go to vote when someone like the Arnold steps up on plate, and promises to clean house.

California's dirty political laundry aside, this bill seems pretty serious. It would effectively cut of the primary way Google intends to make money to pay for Gmail, for Californians atleast. I cannot forsee a way Google would be able to provide this kind of service free of charge. Seems I was correct after all. Everyone is crazy about Gmail. Really.

Sometimes in life you just gotta get of your butt and do something to get something. My options to get a gmail account seemed limited. I could either beg random people for an invite though forums & message groups, or try to get one by winning one of those gmail contests or buy one of ebay. With people paying upto $262 for an account I knew that wasn't the way I was going to go. Besides paying for something that was supposed to be FREE went against my free-living policy.

But I chose to take the path less taken. The idea struck me when I was randomly reading through blogs and came accross shellen.com. Jason Shellen is currently employed by Google and no doubt had plenty of Gmail accounts to give away. I decided to drop in an email to Jason requesting for an invite. But why stop at that? Why not find as many Google employees as I could and send them all an email. Surely one of them would be nice enough and reply back (hopefully with an invite).

Now I'd like to make one thing clear. When I decided to embark on this venture I made a decision not to resort to begging or self-humiliating humor. Nah, what I did was actually read the blog(s) of the people afore-mentioned and making a comment or two about what they had written, I left in a line that I was looking for a gmail account. Anyway I stuck gold in my 6th and last email to a nice person who I'm going to call Jane in order to protect her identity (and her inbox). Jane wrote that she wasn't going to be rolling in dough from the IPO (as I'd written in the email), but was happy to send me an invite. She replied back within 5 mins of my email, and looking at that beautiful automated sever response email with a link to creating a gmail account, made my heart literally stop for a second. But in a minute I had my email account up and going with the username I had had in mind for a long time.

I did get a reply back from Jason saying that he was all out of gmail invites, and a bounced email from Steve, but that was pretty much it. I didn't care by that time. I had GMAIL and I had Jane to thank for it. Jane you rule!

I've got Gmail!

Today I got invited to use Gmail, and I must say, it is worth the hype! People have already blogged about the features of Gmail. Here is more information about Gmail.

What I found most interesting about Gmail, is the concept of Labels that are basically text strings that you can assign to your mails. Gmail doesn't support the Folder metaphor, and implements Inbox as a separate label that is assigned to all incoming messages.

Gmail scans the contents of your messages to display links to relevant pages, separately on the right side of the message that you're viewing.

Gmail is offerring 1000 MBs of free storage space per user, which I feel is a great technical achievement. Here is an article on How Gmail Works?

Get an Invite - Give an Invite

I started this blog in an effort to continue the quest to eliminate Pay Per Invite scheme that has been gaining considerable ground on eBay and elsewhere, to the tune of 300 auctions running at any given time, with dozens more added hourly.

The simple idea is to eliminate the Paid market by offering the Gmail in it's intended form. FREE. Google Inc. has intended for Gmail to be 1) free to use 2) for users to have freedom to store virtually limitless amounts of email and 3) be free of advertising clutter.

Gmail fans from around the globe, have so far applauded Google's herculean undertaking. Specifically, an entry into a very crowded free web mail market. And there is a good reason Gmail is generating so much interest. The product is just damn good. And clearly, people know a good thing when they see one.

Day 6: Gmail Gmail!

In my search for Gmail people have told me about SpyMac.com. It has 1GB of mail storage just like Gmail and offers POP3 access. I'm not impressed with SpyMac.com however! Gmail.com is an easier name to remember and it doesn't make me look like I'm Pro-Mac (which i'm not!).

Day 4: Sanity Needed!

It hasn't happened yet! I'm really sad! It has been 4 days since I've kept this blog about my journey to a GMAIL world - but it hasn't happened yet. It's like my life is in lingo or idle. Like I said on day 1, the cats are hungry, and I'm getting tired of pressing refresh. There has got to be something that somebody can do!

Oh, but there is! All you need to do is invite me to the beta testing of Google. Once there the madness will stop and sanity will rise again. Such a glorious day that will be!

Day 3: GMAIL!

Okay, Okay! I don't have GMAIL yet.., but I was just pretending that I did have it. I "logged in" on the page http://gmail.google.com and read my mail. Although, a page that said that my account didn't exist popped up I was still happy because had my account been there I would be seeing all the wonders known as GMAIL!

Day 2, Part 2: Woes of 'free accounts'

So, I was checking my email on my free hotmail account and noticed that I was about 99% full of nothing but spam! I checked it last night and it was virtually empty! It sucks knowing that your email box can fill so quickly with that service and that many people have the potential of not being able to reach me.

When I get GMAIL i won't have to worry about this at all! That 1GB of storage space will go a LONG way! Plus, GMAIL's spam feature sounds like its shaping up to be one of the best on the net.

But here's to wishing and daydreaming. Someday I tell you, SOMEDAY I will have an account!

Day 2: If I had Gmail

You know I was just sitting here looking at the Gmail login page and it occured to me - If I had Gmail I probably would be doing more productive things other then waiting for Gmail to go live. I could chat with my friends, feed the cats, or even take a shower! (Ew I'm stinky!) My refresh button would probably also appreciate me "moving on."

But we all know that the only way I can get on with my life is when I have my own Gmail account.

So here is to Day 2: If I had Gmail!

Day 1: Where is my Gmail Account?

I have been waiting since April 1st to get a Gmail account. I think Google's way of doing things is great! They are really the innovators of the internet - no matter what anyone says.

I have been using a google product for quite awhile now. I became obsessed with the search engine after a friend of mine shared the jewel we call google.com with me. I would spend hour upon hours searching terms, words, and phrases just to find interesting sites. Then somewhere between then and forever I google became the internet for me. Whenever I get bored - I go to google. I have a google search bar on my Mozilla browser and on my taskbar. I'm also one of those rare people who like to link my stuff to google.

I'm starting this blog so I can prep myself for a gmail account. I've heard nothing but good news from the folks who already use it. I think the one thing that draws me to the account is that its an easy to remember name. Unlike hotmail and yahoo , gmail is very similar to email! And yes, of course... that 1 Gig of space for all my messages. Another feature that I'm looking forward to is the use of email conversations. That alone will rethink of how I use email.

By checking the "all" link, you can easily drop all the spam on a page by basis. The only problem is you still have to look through all the subject lines to separate the good mail so you don't mark that as spam.

- About the email advertising that I'm not doing and my "inquiry x" that I never made
- But hey, there's effective weight loss now available

Don't you just love scanning email subject lines? These are so obviously spam that I would never click through to any of them.

One week equals 5 percent space used on GMail

Ok, well, 4% as of the screenshot below ... but I'm guessing later today it will be 5%.

So here is where I'm at on Gmail space, just 4 hours shy of one week. I'm sure when the 4 hours is up, I'll be at 40MB which will be 5% of my Gmail allotment. Remember, this is my normal email inflow from a couple domains, this isn't me encouraging spam or signing up for special accounts. Here's my original blog entry last week when I turned on the switch.

At this rate, basic math tells me I'll have roughly 20 weeks or 4 months before I burn up the 1 gig allotment and need to start deleting. I'll continue to monitor this and update this until the space is gone.

The blogger, Maritime Girl really wants a Gmail account and is listing the top 100 reasons she should be getting one.

Hey all. Once again it is Thursday night and time for me to put together one of these literary pieces of um.... masterpieces. Yeah that word. Just finished some basic maintenance on a couple of my machines and thought I'd remind everyone that they should be running a disk defragmenter and a disc defragmenter of some sort about once a month. It will keep your hard drive and indexing services of your operating system operating at their best.
I know most of you know how to do this and some of you have it set up to defrag and cleanup within windows on a regular basis. For those that don't it is really easy. just double click on my computer, right click on your hard drive then left click on properties. you should run your cleanup first. Then run your disk checker to make sure there aren't any bad sectors. Then run your defragmenter. You should always go in this order to maximze efficiency of each process.
If you haven't done this for a while it may take some time, but you may notice that your system runs a bit faster, especially if you do a bunch of down loading and web surfing.

Today's g-site is brought to you by music. When I don't want to listen to the same cd of a band that I have heard a million times but want to hear that band I go to www.HOB.com. The House of Blues has been putting concerts on the web since about 8 years ago and they have a huge archive. They have like 7 venues around the country and are always recording new concerts. I have found all kinds of old bands as well as some pretty cool underground stuff there. The deftones concert was so good I think I have seen it like four times.

With spring coming up I thought this might be a good tool for those of you using notebooks outside. It is a mosquito repelant. I can be run in the background and creates a noise which repels mosquitos. It works on windows 95, 98, and ME. Even if your not working it is another reason to have your computer close even when on a picnic. Granted most of the description is badly translated Thai, but it is easy to install and the link was sent to me by someone who was using it last year, and it does work. If you don't have a computer you can bring with you you could probably burn it on a disc and run it on a disc player with small speakers. Beats slathering nasty smelling bug goop all over you, now don't it.

In previous issues I have been talking about how to track money or get credit and stuff on line. Today I want to talk about one of the ways you can make a bit of money on line. I belong to a few open email for profit companies. I have tried a whole slew of them out and came down with 2 I really like. They are both almost the same programs. Each offers you $10.00 just for signing up. They both offer 2 cents an email with bonuses here and there. And they both give you decent gateway web pages. And they both offer payment through 2 levels. What that means is if you get a couple of people to do this then you make a penny a piece on each they open and a penny for anyone they get to join. I put one of em into a couple of my signature files just for advertisement. You can make some decent cash if you get even like 3 people to join.

I was playing round with win2k's obscure features and figured I might share them with you. The fun part was that I stumbled on to this one and figured if anyone ever ends up needing to know it might be handy. If you press the shift key down five times in succession you can go to a sticky keys feature. where you can do thing like hitting ctrl then alt then delete works not having to push them at the same time. Along similar lines I do thing like put hot keys into my system. for instance ctrl+alt+n opens netscape navigator, and ctrl+alt+e opens Everquest. Just right click on any executable file and go into properties. That shortcut key is worth checking out. G-mail

Hiya. Just got finished signing up for another Microsoft session.
If you ever want
to try out new operating systems or are looking for some cool freebies
you should
check them out. The one I am going to is about how Microsoft's business
tools
work. I am mostly going down there for the free camera, and software.
But I always
learn a bunch while I am there. I also do some networking with the
crowd and other
software vendors. To find events in your area just go to
http://www.microsoft.com/usa/events/ . I have gotten tons of beta
software and
freebies at these and you might want to check em out.

G-Site

Vote Monkey for president. Campchaos(http://www.campchaos.com),
wow you
have got to check this place out. It has a ton of really twisted
material.
Puke-n-Chunder, Angry Naked Pat, and The Most Amazing Story where some
of
my favorites. The Most Amazing Story is actually one story with each
chapter done
by a different animation site. You get to see some familiar characters
and styles
and it gets really twisted. I just spent several hours there and didn't
see everything.
They have some shows up to 20 minutes long so you can hang out and
watch
without having to keep clicking.

G-Tool

If your reading this your probably using Windows. If your using
Windows you
have probably had a few problems with it. If you have problems most
people would
go to Microsoft's site. This place is so huge it can take you hours to
find
something. One of the newsletters I subscribe to, Lockergnome gave me
this place.
The Windows support center at http://www.aumha.org/ is great. They have
links to
areas within Microsoft's site arranged in such a way that it is faster
than actually
using microsoft.com. They also have links to tutorials on just about
anything you
can think of. They have links to all kinds of freeware and registry
editing software. If
you don't know what your registry is don't touch it. If you want to
know anything
about windows, need a patch, or want some great tech software this is
where to go.
I use this place as a reference area as well, to answer questions
emailed to me.

G-Money

I thought I'd introduce a couple of stock tools that are available
today. They are
free and if you own stock or are just looking you should check these
out. The first
is the scottrader software at https://www.scottrader.com/Default.asp .
They give a
streaming stock quotes set to your preferences. This will allow the
next piece of
software to get all of the information and tools you could want. After
you register for
their free online quotes you can shut it down if you want. You should
go to
https://www.scottrader.com/Default.asp and download their software.
This stuff is
great. It will do research for you from many different online services.
You can set it
up to email you if a particular stock rises or falls or by volume or
just about
anything else. It can alert you by email or have a sound or screen pop
up. It will
even build you charts but the farthest I have seen it go back is 1970.
You can run
comparisons and look up symbols with ease. With these two tools you can
get
almost all of the business and stock information you could ever want.

G-Clue

This weeks clue comes from one of my friends Howie. You will
probably hear a
bunch from him in this newsletter. This is an excerpt from an email he
sent me.

Windows XP comes with a enhanced program called Messenger that allows
video conferencing. However, this is not downloadable to Windows 98,
which uses NetMeeting for video conferencing. NetMeeting is not is not
downloadable from Microsoft for installation into Windows XP and no
instructions are given as how to accomplish video-conferencing between
the two platforms that I have seen.

Here is a trick you should know: Have the person on the computer
running
under NetMeeting send you an invitation to join them in Video
Conferencing on NetMeeting using your .NET Passport Hotmail Address.
You
will receive a message under Messenger telling you that this person has
asked you to join them on NetMeeting, and asking you if you want to
accept the invite. If you click on ACCEPT, a compatible version of
NetMeeting will download into your computer running Windows XP, and
then
you can auto install it, and from then on you will be able to
conference
with Windows 98 Computers using NetMeeting.

I will caution you though, not to have both NetMeeting and Messenger in
video mode at the same time or you will get serious echoes. Only invite
and talk to any computer using only one of these invite methods.

I learned this the hard way, because my son in Hawaii is running
NetMeeting and I was operating under Windows XP with Messenger. When I
tried to contact him with Messenger I received an error message saying
that he had no sound card or drivers. I knew that was not true, so I
searched for a way around this. Above is the corrected method.

Gmail

Hiya all. Hope you have been haveing as great a time as I have. Went skiing yesterday. Found out snowboard parks are a ton of fun on skis. Broke a binding as soon as I got there but the Gunstock rental shop gave me a discount and only charged me 10 dollars for the evening. Got my stuff run over as we were leaving but after some work with a screwdriver all was fine. I got to see a whole bunch of friends I haven't seen in a while. It was a ton of fun.

My friend Matt introduced me to this weeks G-site, www.Killfrog.com. These guys are truly twisted. I think the survivor series is fantastic, and I want a set of evil piggies for my own home. For several hours worth of hilarious animation check this place out. For you cat lovers though you might not want to check out the Kat vs area or the fluff the kitty game. It took me three days just to get through all of the funny stuff on this site, and they do have a script that will let you know by email whenever they add new shows.

Been going through my book marks today, thought I'd share a couple of things. Ever been looking for information about something on the web? Well I use a Canadian based search engine that spiders the web. It weights the results based on relevancy. Most of the search engines out there are paid for high ranking. WWW.Northernlight.com is a place I find what I want, not just who pays the most to sell it to me. I Use Lycos.com if I want to find brand names, and The netscape white pages search engine(http://home.netscape.com/netcenter/whitepages.html), if I am looking for someone. I have found peoples phone numbers I haven't seen in a while there. Hey if you can't find what your looking for in those three send me an email. I can give it a try.

G-Money

I know you hate em but it is tax time once again. Today's G-money site is brought to you by the IRS. I found this place where you can do your taxes right on line. Costs less than $20.00, and if you fall under a certain income bracket they will do it for free. I found it kind of slow going and tedious, but It got done. I tried a couple of different ways with it so it took me longer than normal. They also have error checking, audit checking, and comparisons with national averages for your income bracket. You can play around with it till you are satisfied then have them file it and the IRS will direct deposit to your bank. They also have a loan thing set up like H&R Block so you can get your money within a couple of days. I didn't go this route as they charge what I think is a bit much, especially since with electronic filing and direct deposit it should only take a week or two. They even have suggestions on how to save more on this years taxes, as well as next years.

Just thought I would relay a good experience I had with Sony the other day. I have a receiver that went into some protect mode after plugging in something I suspected had a short or ground problem. Anyway I started the journey with their websit www.sony.com. I am astounded by the diversity of their products. With all that they are doing I found the right area within minutes. In about 10 minutes I had found a similar problem and simple solutions. After running through their reset suggestions they narrowed the problem down even further. Unfortunately it was to a phone number. So I made coffee and got ready for a day on hold. I dialed the number got a menu that moved me to a human that knew exactly what the problem was. I didn't even have time to get coffee before they had numbers of local certified techs that could fix it and shortly set up a work order and confirmation numbers with a repair shop 10 minutes away. With all the service horror stories I hear every day, I just thought I would share a good customer service story. I will probably buy sony products for life just based on their policies. Now I can have that cup of coffee.

G-Mail

Hi once again from the word of the semi-computer literate. Got my windows replaced
in the apartment today. Used it as an oportunity to try a couple of different
configurations to make the spagetti easier to deal with. I have so much wire in my ceiling
I think it qualifies as insulation. The network was down for over 8 hours. Not sure if it
was the coffee I was drinking while waiting to set back up or withdrawal symptoms, but I
was shaking a bit when it came to putting it all back together. We still haven't figured
out how we lost some of the cable network, but the computers are all back on line.

Check out their show at Warner Brothers.
They recently bought up a bunch of places, including entertaindom. Their site has all
kinds of great stuff for those of us in need of entertainment. Unfortunately you may
need to download a couple of different players as they have material from many places.
They even have some great concerts like Crystal Method and Lincoln Park. They don't ask
for any information either so you your privacy is safe.

G-Tool

So you have a computer. You get email. Do you have a good anti virus plan? I am a big fan
of Grisoft. Their avg is great. I see viruses pop up
all the time and their software is great. AVG is a free for personnel but pay for corporate
program. Because they focus on corporate accounts they have fixes hours after a virus hits
the net. They even build cleaners for viruses if you get one before you install AVG. I have
been using them for years and have only had one virus sweep through and by the time
I had it the had cleaners for it. They have automatic updating, and a virus vault where you
can lock up virus ridden programs to clean them or send them to grisoft and
they will work on it. By the way there are a couple of new viruses out there that can come
in through Flash and Shockwave files. They can only work if you download the whole file
and run it from your machine. So just to be safe run them from the site as streaming. If
you want to have a video or something on your hard drive just make sure you scan it first.

G-Money

I have had a few friends ask me about credit cards over the last few months. I use the one
right on the sign up site. it is

Nextcard Visa It has a great rate and no annual fee. There are different rates for
cash advances as compared to credit purchases but it still isn't too bad. You can pay
bills online with it as well as check balances and payment information. You can even pay
them from your checking account right from their site. If you see charges you don't think
you made you can disclaim them there as well. An all around good card and site and have
been using them for over a year and a half with no complaints.

generally some obscure quirk or tweak in a piece of software or a computer hardware

Gmail

And so it begins. Gmail. The soon to be favorite email newsletter among people that feel they must read my work to remain my friend or are obligated to by being related. lol. I hope I can make it worth your time.
My name is Gary. I am lacking in creativity so I named the newsletter gmail. If anyone has a better name let me know. I spend almost all of my waking moments plugged in. I build computers networks and websites. I figured with all of the people constantly asking me questions, it was time to start publishing. The newsletter will be weekly unless it takes off and I can afford to dedicate all of my time to it. Then it will become a daily. I truly hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy writing it. I am going to put in some advertisements to try and subsidize this endeavor. If you like what you see please check them out.

The G-spot of the week goes to Joe cartoon. This site requires flash 4 but you can down load and install from there. It is hilarious. From microwaving gerbils and blending frogs to getting back at your boss. I would give this a pg rating just for the cartoon gore, but it is well worth the time to check out. Don't forget to try all of their interactive web games. You won't stop laughing for days.

If you do any online shopping or auctioning you have to get a Paypal account. It is a money market account which allows for easy online transactions, checking, and credit cards while earning great interest. I got rid of several of my other accounts and switched to paypal for most of my banking needs.

The G-Tool

The tool of the week is actually a package. If your like me you hate spending money on something you can get for free. I found this package pc suite a while back and I use it all the time. It is basically a free MS office suite. It has spread sheet and word processor programs that can be used just like MS. It even translates MS stuff to other formats. And it even includes photo managing and editing. I realize most people already paid Microsoft to do all of these things, but if you haven't and want a great office suite, check it out.

The G-Clue

From the answer is no, what was the question dept. comes this clue. I got a call today from someone who was looking to pick up a processor for a new machine on eBay (my favorite auction spot). He didn't know the compatability for it and his motherboard. Well the problem is that there are so many chips and mobo manufacturers that most won't work together. Just because a chip will fit in a board doesn't mean it will work. Also with all of the operating systems out there, it may work with one but not another. My suggestion is always buy the chip and mobo together. If you already have the mobo, you can go to the manufacturers website and look up compatible chips, but you need to know the exact model number.
